Wendell Castle’s Grand Opus

Furniture designer Wendell Castle and interior designer Emma Gardner, who is known for her ornate hand-woven rugs, have collaborated on a limited series of innovative wood cabinets painted with Gardner’s original graphic designs. Gardner created five patterns including a swirl and a fish, and eight new lacquer colors for the Opus cabinet, available as a media case, wardrobe, or computer desk. The patterns are hand-painted on either walnut or mahogany cabinets, which are atop clear acrylic bases. The collection, which can be customized to fit any dimensions and starts at about $50,000, is being unveiled at Thomas Lavin gallery in West Hollywood, California, in April.
